With lockdown starting to ease, the kids going back to school, maybe you’re going back into work after being furloughed! It can be so hard sometimes to readjust to a routine after taking so long off, that you forget to take time for yourself and breathe. Here are our top tips for an evening in, to take time for you

Switch Off

Do you ever feel like you go on your phone for just one thing, and one thing leads to another and you’ve been on it for the last hour doing nothing? I know this happens to me all the time. But recently, I’ve noticed that if I set myself a reminder for around 3 hours before I go to bed to put my phone on Do Not Disturb, I’ve been able to relax a bit more and have a better night’s sleep!

Soak it up

My favourite part of the day is when I finally get to go home, run myself a hot, bubble bath and just lie and chill. If you like, epsom salts in the bath can help you to feel more relaxed and alleviate any tensions. If you want, you can just sit there - but I prefer to have something to do. Listen to a podcast, some music or an audio book! I find limiting my podcast listening to bath time encourages me more to take the time to chill in the bath. I recommend Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Spinning Plates!

Cosying up

Sometimes all you need to relax is the right amount of comfort. Grab yourself some nice pyjamsas, put on some fluffy socks and kick back. My favourite thing to do is wear something from our Loungewear range and cuddle up on the sofa under a throw with a hot drink. There’s nothing better than doing this after a hot bath. Grab a book, grab a snack or even just have a lovely chat with someone in your home.

Reflection

This may be considered more optional, but I found during the past year this helped me a lot mentally and physically. Write down what you have achieved that day. Smashed your fitness goals? Managed to wrangle your kids home, feed them and put them to bed in record time? Whatever you have achieved, write it down. This will help you to visualise your day, what you did that was great, what you could improve on, what you want to have achieved tomorrow. This is why we do our monthly challenges on social media, having goals and the reflection on what you have achieved is the best way to relax and feel good about yourself.
